Falling Forward Challenge: Rainy Days

So today's theme is Rainy Days and boy here in the UK we have taken them to heart. Luckily where I live I am unaffected by flooding however I do know people who have been. Anyway I decided to base my manicure on Rain splashing on the road and pavement.

So for this manicure I decided to use some of my new OPI Germany's.  The base colour is Nein Nein Nein Okay Fine, a dark grey polish. Other bloggers have said that this polish has a almost dusky green feel to it but unfortunately on me this is just grey. There isn't much more you can say about it than that really. I don't own a grey this dark in my collection but yes I was expecting something more- a hidden depth to this polish that never really emerged. Application wise the first coat was a little streaky but two coats are a charm and it dried to a lovely natural glossy finish.

I decided to Mattify it with a coat of GOSH Matte Topcoat. The Gosh polish doesn't truly matte a polish but gives it a finish which I think looks similar to the new Illamasqua Rubbish Finish polishes. I really need to invest in a proper matte top coat as as much as I love this finish I know I need to own both. Anyway NNNOF is really on trend and adding the matte/rubber finish to it really makes this one edgy combination.

So here we have our pavement, but I still needed to add the rain. For this I grabbed my bottle of Unfor-greta-bly Blue. This polish live up to it's expectations so much more. Greta-bly is a medium royal blue polish which is a shimmer which almost crosses into the boundaries of a highly pigmented foil. To add my raindrops I used a Fanned Nail Art brush and got a little of this polish on the very tips then randomly swiped my nails with it. I left this polish without a topcoat so that the glossy blue would contrast against the matte grey.

For me this combination looked quite edgy and exciting yet not too in your face. It is subtle enough to wear out without getting strange looks.

So here are the other ladies taking part in this challenge with me:
