My first 'Pro' Manicure and Born Pretty Studs

This is a short post today as I don't have that much to say.

My boyfriends mum booked me an appointment with her nail technician for a shape and paint manicure job. This is my first time and as I am trying to book my course to study Nail Technology it seems like a good idea that I go and experience it for myself! Here is the result:

I was a little disappointed if the truth be told, I picked a pretty purple OPI (name still unknown) but the paint job didn't seem great to me. I know I tend to over paint and not leave that tidy 'pro' gap around my cuticles but this seemed the opposite. So the next day I added some studs from Born Pretty (which I will be reviewing soon) to distract myself from the polish underneath!

I don't begrudge this experience as it's opened my eyes to the kind of nail tech I want to be and what type of products and quality of service I want to deliver. Hey, maybe it's not even that bad a job!

I really love those studs. The square/diamond ones look fab! With the purple base this reminds me of Turkey and Harems and the exotic!

Do you get your nails done professionally, what do you think?

  1. Hmm that gap is a bit excessive! You wouldn't get much wear out of that before it looked like it'd grown out far too much... Very pretty colour though, but I think you do a better job yourself :)

  2. Eeew. That doesn't look good at all :( I've had several pro manis, and none of them have looked like this.

  3. Yeah I have had my nails done professionally in the past but I didn't think it was worth the money. I agree with the gap being a bit big compared to your nail size but it's good to try it for at least once I guess :)

  4. I would have never thought this was a manicure done by a professional... not impressed! I agree with the gap no room for grow out... oh well maybe she's just starting

  5. That gap looks like 2 weeks worth of gel mani grown out - the whole reason i very rarely gel my nails - cant handle the fact that it looks like i didnt do my nails properly!

Love the colour you picked though and the studs you added are really cute :)
