Super Duper! Comparision of hot pink textued polishes!

Today I am bringing you another of my dupe comparison series. When I swatched my Beauty UK Grit FX polishes I said I wanted to compare the pink polish- Birdcage to Nails Inc Pink Leather that I had been lusting after for a while.

So here we have Nails Inc Leather Effect Ladbroke Grove and Beauty UK Posh Polish in Birdcage. A quick bottle comparison shows they are both a similar hot pink creme polish.

The Nails Inc retails for around £12.00 while the Beauty UK costs £3.49 from Superdrug.

So how do they translate onto the nail?

My first and third finger are two coats of Nails Inc and my second and pinkie nail use the Beauty UK (again two coats). Straight away you can see that the shade of pink is slightly different in tone when on the nail. The Beauty UK is more of a blue-toned pink compared to the nails inc.

Also the texture is different too. While the Beauty UK polish isn't massivly textured like the Barry M or OPI Liquid Sands it isn't a Leather Effect (like I first thought it was when I first swatched the Beauty UK polishes!) it is more of a subtle gritty texture with obvious 'lumps' while the leather effect is even more subtle on the nail.

Application wise the Nails Inc applied well to the nail and dried relatively quickly although I would probably have done a third coat of polish if wearing this alone. The Beauty UK was slightly harder to apply as it needed a very level application. If the coat of polish was too thick the textured effect didn't always appear. I also found that the Beauty UK polish took longer to dry. Again I personally would have done a third coat of this polish to get a better opacity on the nail.

On this occasion while the polishes are not completely dupes if you are really lusting after the Nails Inc (like I was) you know you can get a cheap almost-dupe. Personally out of the two I preferred the Nails Inc, but when I only had Birdcage I was happy with that! Sometimes you an be spoiled by too many polishes!

Do you own either of these polishes? Which one would you pick?

  1. I would pick the cheaper version, but that is mostly because it looks less coral than the Nails Inc. :)

  2. I prefer a blue-toned hot pink, so I'd probably go for the Beauty UK one too x

  4. I've got to say in terms of colour I prefer the Beauty UK but the texture is a bit ugh. The Nails Inc one looks nicer but there's no way I'd spend £12 on a polish!
